Introduction
AgriOnline welcomes the implementation of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) (Act 4 of 2013) and strives to follow the edicts as prescribed by the South African government and the Information Regulator.
Your personal information has always been safe with us, and any data you submit to AgriOnline in your capacity as a customer and user is protected.
In support of this, we take a closer look at our most frequently asked questions, how you can request a record of your personal information or the deletion thereof, what procedure you should follow to lodge a POPIA-related complaint, as well as links to our policies and PAIA manual.
Take note: According to our interpretation of the POPIA regulations, and following confirmation from our legal team, when you make use of AgriOnline in any capacity, you are considered our customer since you are using services we provide.
AgriOnline is an online advertising platform and do not take part in what transpires between the buyer and the seller, and thus cannot be held accountable for any challenges or disputes that might arise between the two.
AgriOnline cannot be held responsible for the personal information you display and make available to the public when you place an advert on our website. We also cannot be held accountable for what visitors, users or potential buyers do with the information.

1. WHAT IS THE POPI ACT?
It is the Protection of Personal Information Act (Act 4 of 2013).
To promote the protection of personal information processed by public and private bodies; to introduce certain conditions so as to establish minimum requirements for the processing of personal information; to provide for the establishment of an Information Regulator to exercise certain powers and to perform certain duties and functions in terms of this Act and the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000; to provide for the issuing of codes of conduct; to provide for the rights of persons regarding unsolicited electronic communications and automated decision making; to regulate the flow of personal information across the borders of the Republic; and to provide for matters connected therewith. 2. WHY DID I RECEIVE EMAILS OR SMSS FROM AgriOnline?
If you received an email or SMS from us, there are two avenues through which you might have received them.
– System-generated communications: These are automatically triggered by actions you take on our website, such as placing an advert, responding to one, or setting up alerts for the vehicles you are interested in.
– In your capacity as an AgriOnline user/customer: You might have filled in one of the forms on our website, app or social media channels. E.g. a contact form, lead form, registration form, an advert placement form, or created an alert. You also might have made a call via a call-tracking number listed on an advert on our website.
3. HOW CAN I UNSUBSCRIBE FROM RECEIVING EMAILS OR SMSS FROM AgriOnline?
The quickest way to unsubscribe from receiving emails is to click on the ‘Unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of your email. To stop receiving SMSs from us, please send ‘STOP’ to 41624. This is free of charge.
Alternatively, feel free to send an email to admin@agrionline.co.za with your request to be unsubscribed. Please include the email address and/or contact number you wish to unsubscribe from receiving communication from us.
4. WHY DID I RECEIVE WHATSAPP MESSAGES FROM AGRIONLINE AND HOW CAN I STOP RECEIVING THEM?
We do not add users to WhatsApp groups, which means that at some point you saved our number on your phone and sent us a message.
To stop receiving WhatsApp messages from us, please delete the AgriOnline WhatsApp number from your phone. This will ensure that you no longer receive communication from our number.
5. I’VE SUBSCRIBED TO PUSH NOTIFICATIONS AND DON’T WANT TO RECEIVE THEM ANYMORE. HOW CAN I OPT-OUT?
You can opt-out from push notifications by removing the website you give permissions to in the Notification settings of your browser. Not sure how to do this?
6. HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION AGRIONLINE HAS ON ME?

7. HOW CAN I RECEIVE MORE RELEVANT CONTENT FROM AGRIONLINE?
We are currently hard at work creating an amazing preferences page where you will be able to manage what you receive from us. This will streamline your interests and ensure that you never miss out on great new listings as well as vehicles you might have previously overlooked.
8. WHERE DID AGRIONLINE GET MY PERSONAL INFORMATION FROM?
There are various ways we might have received your information. These include when you registered as a seller on AgriOnline and any forms you might have filled in as a user/customer. E.g. contact forms, lead forms, alerts, advert placement forms, calls you made to a call-tracking number listed on our website, or when you selected to allow browser push notifications.
If you would like to know exactly where we got your information from, please send an email to admin@agrionline.co.za Please include in your email the address and/or contact number associated with your account and use the subject line ‘Request for origin of personal information’. We will reply to your email within five workdays.

9. I SUSPECT SOMEBODY ILLEGALLY GAINED ACCESS TO MY PERSONAL INFORMATION THROUGH AGRIONLINE. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
First off, thank you for bringing your suspicion to our attention. We take this very seriously and will investigate with urgency. Please refer to the section below titled ‘Complaints procedure’.
10. IS MY PERSONAL INFORMATION SECURE?
Yes. AgriOnline is committed to protecting your personal information. We will not, under any circumstances, share your personal information with other individuals or organisations without your permission, including public organisations, corporations or individuals, except when applicable by law. We do not sell, communicate, or divulge your information to any external marketing lists.
11. WHAT MEASURES DO AGRIONLINE TAKE TO ENSURE THE SECURITY OF MY DATA?
We use and apply appropriate security measures to preserve the confidentiality of your information. All personal information you supply is protected according to the POPI Act. You can, at any time, access the personal information we have collected about you, modify it, or ask us to delete it. 12. WHAT WILL MY PERSONAL INFORMATION BE USED FOR?
We use all of the information you provide voluntarily in order to improve your experience on our site. This information might, at a later time, allow us to add customised elements to our site or to plan its content more appropriately based on user interests. If you have granted us permission to, AgriOnline can use your personal information in order to send you newsletters with the intent of offering you relevant information and the best deals possible. We may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of third-party vendors about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. Our communications with you will always be related to subjects you have shown interest in via your interaction with our website.
Request for record of personal information or data removal
If you would like a record of what personal information we have on our system, or would like to have your data removed, please fill in the form below or send an email to admin@agrionline.co.za Including the following if you choose to send an email:
Your name and surname
Proof of identity in the form of either a copy of your ID, driver’s licence, or passport.
The email address and/or contact number associated with your account.
What you want us to do. Would you like us to send you a record of your personal information on our system or do you want us to delete all data associated with your email address and/or contact number, or both.
Please note that it could take up to five workdays for your request to be completed

Complaints procedure
If you believe that we sent you unsolicited communications or that an unauthorised party gained access to your personal information via our system, please send an email to admin@agrionline.co.za.
Include the following in your email:
Your name and surname.
Proof of identity in the form of either a copy of your ID, driver’s licence, or passport.
The email address and/or contact number that received the unwanted communication.
The date/s and time/s that the email address and/or contact number received the communication.
The actual communication, if possible, be it email or SMS. If you can’t include it, please give us some indication regarding the contents of the communications to help us identify it, even a screenshot will be helpful.
An indication of what you would like us to do with your personal information going forward. We can permanently delete all of it from our database, or we can unsubscribe you from communication that is not related to adverts you might have placed on AgriOnline.
For a possible data breach: If you suspect an unauthorised party gained access to your personal information through AgriOnline and used it to send unconsented communication, please include the sender’s information and the unsolicited material as an attachment.
